faceless ancestors toil in
bronze age fields across Europe
erecting megalithic monuments
imprinting cryptic messages
that echo across millennia
and beguile distant descendants.
near Kaseberga they still stand
provoking dubious speculation
about gods in fiery chariots
providing technological innovations
in return for veneration
and the promise of immortality.
